The aim of this project was to train the managerial staff at the newly established Ministry of Women’s Affairs to become more effective leaders and managers, and in so doing ensure a better implementation of the mandate of the Ministry of Women’s Affairs.

The Ministry of Women’s Affairs was established in late 2001 by the Afghan Interim Administration, and as a newly established ministry it was in urgent need of human resources development, specially at the managerial level. This training program enhanced the leadership and managerial abilities of the participants by training them in the fundamentals of leadership and management through highly interactive activities, self-assessments, discussions and case studies. In addition, the participants were trained in communicating effectively, solving problems, making decisions, working in teams, building relationships, creating and implementing change in the organization, and aligning one’s goals with the organization’s mission, goals, and objectives.
