Our focus areas are identified based on the issues facing women in Afghanistan today and designed to maximize our impact. Vital to all our focus areas are the key cross-cutting themes of gender equality and women’s empowerment, as we believe that these are not only a fundamental human right, but a necessary foundation for peaceful, effective and sustainable development of Afghanistan.

Empowerment of women and gender equality are prerequisites for achieving political, social, economic, cultural, and environmental security among all peoples.Beijing Platform for Action, Fourth United Nations World Conference on Women (Beijing, 1995)
